(CPV) - The Vietnam Auto Manufacturers Association (VAMA) has reported sales of nearly 55,000 cars in the first half of this year, a year-on-year rise of 27 %.
Truong Hai Auto Joint Stock Company (THACO) continued to top auto sales in June with nearly 3,500 units, a 48% increase over a year earlier, accounting for 32.1% of VAMA’s market share.
Almost all association members enjoyed increased sales in June, with Ford Vietnam seeing a 67% rise in auto sales with 972 units. Toyota Vietnam sold nearly 3,450 units, up 590 units compared to the same month last year.
On the whole, VAMA’s auto sales surged 27% in the first six months this year. Truong Hai led the pack with 17,850 units, up 40% or 32.5% of VAMA’s market share. Toyota Vietnam ranked second with corresponding figures of more than 16,800 units and 30.6%.
The association expects that its current growth and the Government’s policies to stabilize the macro-economy will enable it to sell 140,000 units in the second half of 2014, a year-on-year rise of 27%./.
